Its a BOY!

YEA!!! We are so excited and SHOCKED! We thought forsure we were having a girl, but he sure tricked us on April fools day when he showed us his goods. Now knowing what our little munchkin is going to be I am ready to start buying stuff. This being our first baby have NO clue on what I need vs not. Does anyone have any suggestions on things that are necessity vs just nice to have or what is a waste of money?? I know I will get stuff from baby showers, but what should I expect???

Here is my list so far.....

Swing
Changing table
Bouncer
Bassinet
Boppy
Bumbo
Stroller/car seat
Clothes
Blankets
Diapers/Wipes/cream
Bath stuff

Yeah! Congrats. Little boys are so much fun. Here is my opinion on baby stuff and please know this is just my thoughts. From you list I would say musts are a swing, boppy, stroller/car seat (I like the combos). You will get TONS of clothes, blankets at showers. Bath stuff is a must but the little baby robes that are so cute are completely pointless. I look at them but never use them.

I would get a pack-n-play with the changing table instead of a bassinet. I do have a furniture set with a changing table that matches the crib and love it but we didn't use it until he was about 3 months. Bumbo is another one that is nice but not necessary. This is long, sorry. If you want more opinions on brands, let me know.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Wahoo we are so excited for you guys!

I agree you will get lots of clothes and bath stuff at showers and a lot of other things in duplicates... remember you can take things back to the store and get things that you will use.

As far as items go some are essential like your carseat, diapers, wipes etc but what brand you pick is your preference. However a lot of other things are just what you feel YOU will actually use. I had B in her cradle until she was almost 5 months old sleeping in our room. I loved having her so close, especially when Jared was gone working at night! :p
A few of my favorite items that I couldn't live without would be, #1 her swing (as well as a small take along swing to go to Grandma's) she takes her naps the best in her swing and loves to chill and have alone time in it. #2 a plastic diaper changing mat - many times she would poop or pee mid diaper change and it would be a mess, but easy to wipe off of the plastic mat! #3 A variety of brands and scents of wipes, diapers and ointments.... turns out B has really sensitive skin. Through trial and error(these things usually start in the middle of the night) when she was about 2 months old we were able to figure out what kind of diapers and wipes work best for her so she doesn't get a rash! #4 I loved the bumbo and so did she. She could sit up and watch me do things and she loved it. I use it now to put her in it to spoon fed her. However, I know some Doc's say not to use the Bumbo too much or it can delay your child because they will not be using and strengthening their own muscles to support their weight. #5 A humidifier. Not only is it good for moisture in the air but the light humming noise is great back ground noise so the baby doesn't get use to sleeping when it is 100% quiet!

I could go on and on...but I'm sure you've had enough!

Wait... one more thing! I personally hated the Boppy. Thought it was lame and didn't really feel very comfortable for me to use, especially when trying to nurse. Using a pillow worked/works for me still so much better and is a lot cheaper!

I got the book Baby Bargains when I had Jayden. I thought they did a good job of saying what was good to have & what was a waste of money. They also had some ratings on things. I probably spent $15 on the book & saved a lot more than that.

By the way....CONGRADS on the boy!!!

Yay! Kinda funny that we were sure we were having a boy and it's a girl and you're just the opposite. Congrats!

So happy for you guys. I know you'd be happy no matter what, but I have such fond memories of Braedon's first years. He was my little buddy--LOVED it. As for baby items: I have a boppy that you can use if you would like, you would need to get a more neutral cover (mine is pink). I loved using mine. A swing was a must for some of my kids, but not all of them. Bouncer--must, must, must. I agree about a pak-n-play instead of bassinet. Bumbo-never used. Stroller combo-must. Anyway, Congrats!

I Love Baby Boys!
This is so random but I live for my Oxi Clean stain remover. If your little man has blow outs it will be your saving grace and then when the baby food starts it get those stains out as well. With Bella I started throwing clothes away because I got so sick of scrubbing. All you do with the Oxi Clean is toss some in with hot water and throw the clothing in and let it soak. Love Love Love it!
