Goodbye for now

No words can express the love I have for my Grandpa. He has always been part of my life. We got the sad news of my dear Grandpa passing on New Years day. My grandpa and I shared a special bond and his passing has been very hard for me to accept. But I am so grateful to know that I will be able to see him one day again. That knowledge can be very comforting during such hard times.

I would like to share a poem that my mother wrote for my Grandpa's funeral that will give you a little more knowledge on how wonderful this man was.

We stand with each other to wave goodbye,
To our dad, our Grandpa, and try not to cry.
The memories we'll treaseure of the stories he told,
Of his daring adventures, of his actions so bold:
A memorable window
Harassing German guards
His jump from an airplane
His immaculate yards
Oh, where is the thimble?
His cream puffs divine
Feeding ice cream to Deana
"Pancakes" and waffles, so fine
Memorable camp-outs; boys only, you know
Enjoying the mountains, his life never SLOW!
Strong willed was his nature
Ignoring doctors, his creed
Fried food was his favorite
Uniformed stud on his steed
His world-famous hamburgers
His extra heeled shoe
His love for his family
His lizard hunts too
No one else holds a paintbrush to this wonderful man,
Goodbye for now, Far Far,
From your Olesen Clan

I took this picture the day of the funeral. I felt so much peace when I saw these chairs and I hope you feel that way when you look at it to.
